About Department
Department of English was established in the year 1994 with the introduction of engineering programmes. The Department serves as an integral part of the Science and Humanities Division, upskills the students with English Language Skills. It periodically organizes and conducts training programmes such as soft skills, verbal, group discussion and mock interviews. The Department caters to the Master of Ceremony needs of the engineering departments and of the entire institution as well. The Department also facilitates the language correction and editing of journal papers and articles, research articles and PhD Dissertations of the engineering faculty and students. The members of the Department are well-qualified faculty team and they are exclusively attached with the engineering departments for academic collaborations and teaching-learning effectiveness.

Dr.A.Palaniappan has been teaching English to engineering and MBA students for the past 24 years. He secured his Under Graduation (1993) and Post Graduation (1995) in English Literature from St.Joseph’s College, Tiruchirapalli. He completed his MBA with Marketing and HR as specialization at Periyar University in 2001. He also completed his M.Phil at Madurai Kamaraj University in 2004 and Doctorate in Linguistics at Bharathiar University in 2015 respectively. During his undergarduation, he was a NCC B Certificate holder and had underwent a cycle expedition on the western coastal pockets of South Tamil Nadu covering a distance of 788 km in 10 days. He received Silver Medals for securing first rank in all four semesters of his Post Graduation and received the same from the hands of the then Scientific Advisor and former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He served as Training coordinator in KSRCT for 15 years from 2007 to 2021. He is an in-house trainer on softskills, HR Interview Tips and Résumé Building, Also, he has a flair in motivational speech and training on psychological enrichment. He had presented 15 papers in national conferences and 12 papers in international conferences. He had been resource person for 12 Faculty Development Programmes and presented 35 invited talks. He had facilitated as Resource Person to the English Faculty of Salem and Erode Zone for the conduct of Bridge Course to I B.E. / B.Tech. students (academic year 2013-14). He had served as the Workshop Coordinator for the Technical Communication workshop conducted by IIT Bombay for the engineering faculty. He has completed 19 NPTEL Swayam courses on different domains such as JAVA programming, Python, DBMS, NLP, German,Design Thinking, Six Sigma and so forth with Silver Elite. He has been awarded with NPTEL Enthusiast and Believer Certification twice.

Dr.M.Umai Arasi is presently working as an Associate Professor of English at K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology, Tiruchengode. She has 14 years of experience at Colleges and 22 years of teaching experience at schools. She graduated in B.A. English Literature at Vellalar College For Women, Erode in1981 and completed her post graduation in English Literature at Vellalar College For Women, Erode in 1983. She completed her M.Phil programme at Annamalai University in 1985. She completed her B.Ed. in distance mode in 1995. She completed her doctoral programme in Jewish American Literature at Periyar University in 2017. Her Research interests include American Fiction in particular and English Literature and English Language teaching in general. She has a passion for listening to English Language Programmes on BBC, VOA and a host of other English Language channels. She has been recognized as an NPTEL Discipline Star in Humanities and Social Sciences and was awarded a certificate of appreciation in December 2019 for having invested around 60 hours of study at the NPTEL courses. She has been learning NPTEL courses at regular intervals.Besides her academic credentials, she has a flair for writing, drawing, painting and composing poems.

Dr.R.Rajmohan is an Associate Professor in the Department of English,K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology, Tiruchengode, Tamilnadu, India.
