The Department of Physics, established in 1994, offers the foundational course, Engineering/Applied Physics, essential for all engineering disciplines with highly qualified and committed faculty members specializing in various Physics/Material Science disciplines. Research lab has been established across different areas to meet the evolving needs of faculty, research scholars and students. Additionally, faculty members are recognized as research supervisors by Anna University. Faculty members frequently serve as resource persons at conferences, workshops, and faculty development programs, while also contributing as reviewers for esteemed journals.

Dr.V.Vasudevan is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Physics at K.S. Rangasamy College of Technology. He obtained his Master's degree from Madras University, Chennai, and his Doctoral degree from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, where he received a CSIR Senior Research Fellowship for his doctoral studies. With a total teaching experience of 12 years, his research interests encompass Crystal Growth, Nonlinear Optical Materials, Green Synthesis of Nanomaterials, Photonic & Optoelectronic Materials, and Functional Material Characterization. He received a UGC minor research project entitled "Effect of metal ions on physical and chemical properties of unidirectionally grown amino acid based semi-organic single crystals" (MRP-6106/15 (SERO/UGC)). He is a recognised research supervisor from the Centre for Research, Anna University. He has published research papers in various international reputed journals and in conferences, and he has also filed and published his research findings in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

Dr. M. Malarvizhi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at K.S. Rangasamy College of Technology. She holds a Master’s degree from Bharathidasan University, Trichy, an M.Phil. from Madurai Kamaraj University, and a Ph.D. from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. With 15 years of teaching and research experience, her expertise spans material science, energy storage materials, supercapacitor technology, two-electrode device fabrication, and the integration of supercapacitors with solar energy, healthcare devices, and electric vehicle systems. Currently, she works in a research group focused on overcoming challenges in supercapacitor applications for electric vehicles and medical devices. Dr. Malarvizhi has authored 15 international journal publications, 2 conference papers, and a book chapter (Taylor & Francis), and holds 4 Indian patents. She is also an active resource person, conducting workshops and training sessions.

Dr.P.Suthanthira Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, K.S.Rangasamy college of Technology. He has received his Master degree from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai and Master of Philosophy from Anna University, Chennai and Doctoral degree from The Gandhigram Rural Institute-Deemed University, Dindigul. He has visited Henan University of Technology, China for Post Doctoral Fellowship during 2019 to 2021. He is a recognised research supervisor from the Centre for Research, Anna University. He has a teaching experience of 2 years in total. His research interests include Rare-earth ions doped luminescent materials (Glass & Phosphor) for photonic and optoelectronic devices. He has published more than 20 papers in International Refereed Journals and Presented 20 papers in National and International Conferences. He is a reviewer for reputed journals (Ceramic International, Optical materials, Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids and Journal of Molecular Structure etc.).

Dr. S.Saveetha is Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, K.S Rangasamy College of Technology. She has a teaching experience of 5.6 years and worked as Research Associate in 1.7 years in Sri Vasavi College, Erode. Dr. V. P. Devarajan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at K.S. Rangasamy College of Technology, Tiruchengode, Tamil Nadu, India. He completed his doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in Physics from Thin Films & Nanomaterials research group, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India with focused on “Molecular Conformation Dependent Photophysical and Photochemical Behaviors of Beta-Carotene Conjugated ZnS & CdS Quantum Dot Hybrids”. He completed his M.Sc. degree in Physics Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. He has more than 10 years teaching experience at various institutes and 12 years research experience. Also, he worked with DST funded project sponsored by government of India. He served as subject/research expert and university senate member. He received many awards for his excellent academic/research performances from national/international agencies. He has organized more than 50 State/National/International level technical programmes. He has an efficient journal and book chapter publications in RSC, AIP, IOP, Elsevier, Springer publishers & etc. with good impact factors and h/i-index citations. Simultaneously, he published his research innovations in Indian patent journal. He is a material physicist and has expertise in low-cost as well as efficient “Multifunctional Quantum Dots/Hybrid Nanostructures for LED, Sensor, Supercapacitor, Hydrogen production/Photocatalysis and Bio-labelling/Drug Delivery applications”.

Dr. U. Nithiyanantham is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at K.S. Rangasamy College of Technology, Tamil Nadu, India. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Spain, in collaboration with CIC energiGUNE, focusing on the development of nanofluids based on molten salts and their corrosion mechanisms for thermal energy storage applications. He completed his M.Sc. in Physics at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT-T). He has over five years of research experience at various institutes. He served as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-Madras) and as a Juan de la Cierva Formación Postdoctoral Fellow at Jaume I University (UJI), Spain. Additionally, he was awarded the NANOUPTAKE fellowship in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, UK, and served as a Diamond Jubilee Research Intern at the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), India. His research interests include the development of nanomaterials for energy applications, particularly in the areas of: i). Thermal energy storage, ii). Thermoelectric materials, iii). Dye-sensitised solar cells and iv). Supercapacitors.
