The Department of Mechatronics Engineering was established in year 2001 with a vision to create qualified mechatronics engineers to serve the automation industry.The department provides B.E., Mechatronics Engineering and M.E., Industrial Safety Engineering with an intake of 60 and 18 respectively. The department has excellent laboratory facilities which include Robotics,Advanced Microcontroller, PLC, CAD/ CAM, Hydraulic and Pneumatic Control, Drone, Research and Embedded laboratory equipped with modern software’s. The department has erudite and highly interactive faculty, well qualified in various spheres of mechatronics & safety engineering. Besides teaching, the department is actively involved in industrial consultancy and conducting training programmes for student, faculty and industrial people.

He is a Research Supervisor in Mechanical Engineering under Anna University, Chennai, and reviewer for several top-tier journals. He is a Head-MSME Business Incubator in KSRCT and worked to get fund 1.17Cr for 10 student’s ideas and 1 Cr for establishment of MSME Business incubator. He is a Chief Coordinator- Startups and Entrepreneurship Development Cell for KSRCT, completed NPTEL Course and various FDPs related to Entrepreneurship. He was worked as Professor and Head, Department of Mechatronics Engineering from May 2021 to November 2023. He is a NISP Institution Ambassador and implemented the KSRCT Startup Policy. President for Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) under Ministry of Education from 2018-2020 and scored 5 star performance in IIC. He has established a KSR Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing.

Dr C.Vijayakumar, presently working as a Professor in Department of Mechatronics Engineering at K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology, Tiruchengode. He received Ph.D (Mechanical Engineering) degree in the year 2016 by Anna University, Chennai in the area of alternative fuels. He has experience over 15 years in teaching and published more than 50 technical papers in total in national and international level. Research interests include IC engine, Alteranate fuels and Nano additives. He has published a book entitled on “ Bio diesel Blends Doped with Copper Oxide Nano Particles – An Experimental and Theoretical Analysis’’ and a book chapter to his credit. He owns a granted patent entitled “INNOVATIVE AND EFFICIENT TECHNOLOGY FOR BIO DIESEL PRODUCTION FROM NON –EDIBLE OILS”. He is an active member of ISTE, ISRD, FISRD and CIIS.

The Ministry of MSME provided 44 lakh funding for three different ideas aimed at solving societal problems. He received 11.8 lakh from TANSII fund for the project titled "Design and Development of Fixed-wing Autonomous UAV." He has mentored many projects that have won around 3 lakh rupees in and out of India. He has acted as a resource person and jury member in various engineering colleges and polytechnic colleges. His research interests include Electric Vehicles and Drones. He has published 10 patents and 7 papers in International Refereed Journals, and 1 book chapter published in CRC Press. The students shall undergo mandatory Internship/Industrial training during the summer/winter vacation with prior approval from the Head of the Institution. Mechatronics Engineering students will learn to integrate mechanical, electrical, and software components to create efficient and reliable solutions through their internship. In this case, the training has to be undergone by the students for at least continuous two weeks in an organization and credits shall be awarded as prescribed in the curriculum. Students are permitted to undergo internship in Industry/ University/ Research organization. Credits shall be Internship given for students undergoing internship/doing projects in relevant industry as given below:
